About Run for Research®

Run For Research® (RFR) is a running team that wins every time. Coordinated by the New England Chapter of the American Liver Foundation, the team promotes awareness of liver disease and raises money to fund critical programs in research, education and advocacy. As an official charity of the Boston Athletic Association's Charity Program, RFR runners compete in the Boston Marathon®, sponsored by friends, family, colleagues and other contributors.

The American Liver Foundation has been training runners to cross the finish line of the Boston Marathon® since 1988. While doing so, we have raised over $11 million to help fund the fight against liver disease. Although recent strides in research, treatment and transplantation have been significant, much more needs to be done. The team goal for 2008 is to raise more than $1.2 million to support the American Liver Foundation's mission.

Our team members span every walk of life and a wide range of athletic abilities. They are generous and dedicated individuals who act not just as fundraisers and athletes, but as ambassadors for the American Liver Foundation. Their hard work funds hope for adults and children afflicted with liver disease.
